Kinda funny how things have a way of turning around and biting you. One can see in this case the propensity for seeing both sides. Google is making a ton of money off of everyone, but I wouldn't argue that they're taking money away from anyone, probably the opposite, most of these businesses are probably benefiting greatly from the giant searchengine's capability for advertisement.

This is an interesting case because you are talking about to giant entities – Google and American Airlines. I think AA has a case here with the fact that Google is using their trademark to sell key word triggers that generate paid advertisements on their search engine. As stated in the article, I think they also have a claim for false advertising. Since these advertisements are showing up as “sponsored links,” when apparently the trademark owner has not endorsed this product/service.
ReplyDeleteGoogle definitely has a vested interest in winning this dispute, and they may just have the deeper pockets to fight. This type of practice is a big part of the revenue generated by the company, and to lose the ability to sell this type of advertisement, would cause a huge loss of revenue.
It is true that Google is taking over the world…but who doesn’t like a company that you can take your dog to work, or play video games at lunch!
